Jane Jetson is one of the main characters of the Jetsons animated franchise. Her voice was originated by Penny Singleton.

Jane is the matriarch of the Jetsons, a family from the year 2062 (or sometime in the distant future). Although a typical housewife, she does very little work due to all the futuristic appliances that are either automated or require the single push of a button. Despite this, she hired a robot maid called Rosie to help out with the chores.

Character description

Jane has a slender body with medium-length red hair. Unlike her husband, she has a small nose. She also wears red-pink lipstick, and wears a purple dress with a white triangular shaped collar.

In terms of personality, Jane is a caring mother of her family. Since she is a homemaker in the future, she spends most of her days taking care of the household using its plentiful gadgets. Her favorite pastime involves shopping for new appliances and fashion. Although she loves both her family and George, Jane is a dutiful wife who always tries to make life as pleasant as possible for the two of them.

Behind the scenes

In popular culture

  • Although having no part in the actual movie, Jane, along with George and Astro, was featured on the poster of the 1985 film D.A.R.Y.L. The inclusion of the family may represent something Daryl is missing out on, while Paramount Pictures may have included it as an Easter egg as they had acquired the rights the same year for what became an undeveloped live-action movie.
  • In The Ren & Stimpy Show episode "The Big Shot!," Stimpy becomes the co-star of Muddy Mudskipper, where they reenact one of the many chase sequences between Yogi and Ranger Smith, respectively. Muddy tells Stimpy to get his hand out of the picnic basket, while Stimpy just spouts random quotes originally like "Jane! Stop this crazy thing!"
  • In the Drawn Together episode "A Tale of Two Cows," she is killed by Live Action Cow alongside her family.
  • George, alongside Jane, Rosie, Judy, and Elroy, appears as posters in the Kanye West music video for "Heartless."
  • In the Steven Universe episode "Greg the Babysitter," when Greg and Sour Cream get stuck on the Ferris wheel, he yells for Rose to "get him off this crazy thing."
  • For the 2021 Halloween special of Live with Kelly and Ryan, Kelly Ripa was dressed as Jane.
