In Jellystone!, Captain Caveman is a resident of the titular town along with his son Cavey Jr., of which he was unaware until the episode "Ice Ice Daddy."

Mining Mascot

In the Velma series, the crystal mining cave is a tourist attraction with a Captain Caveman theme, where the workers dress in Captain Caveman costumes, and there is a kiddie ride shaped like Captain Caveman.

Velma also ate her K'oenig's cereal out of a bowl with a cartoony Captain Caveman design.[3]

Development

According to Mark Evanier, Captain Caveman was initially planned as a Yosemite Sam-type character. The design of the character got hairier until an individual suggested that he should be a caveman.[4]

The design of Captain Caveman likely took inspiration from the Slag Brothers on the Wacky Races franchise.

Behind the scenes

In popular culture

  • In the Family Guy episode "The Perfect Castaway," Peter becomes Tom Hanks in the film Castaway, after being shipwrecked on a deserted island with his friends, growing a long beard and trying to catch fish. Peter takes out a pocket watch as Hanks does, but instead of his wife (or girlfriend in Hanks's character case), Peter carries a photo of Captain Caveman.
  • In the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia episode "A Very Sunny Christmas," Mac finds his old toy club in his childhood wardrobe, eliciting him to shout "Captain Caveman," and reminds Charlie of how they'd shave the neighborhood dogs' fur off and glue to their faces to play as Captain Caveman.
