"Yogi's Tummy Trouble" is the first episode of Jellystone! season one. It aired on July 29, 2021 on HBO Max. It was written and directed by series creator, C.H. Greenblatt.

Cindy inserts a device in Yogi's stomach to prevent him from ever not getting hungry. Of course, things go terribly wrong once he starts devouring the entire town.

Detailed summary

At Jellystone Hospital, Granny Sweet is treated to a song from Augie about kittens, which causes her to flatline. Doctors Yogi and Cindy come in to find she has experienced a musical trauma from Augie's bad singing. Yogi gets Nurse Boo Boo to get rid of Augie, which revives Granny Sweet. The bears then go for lunch.

At the hospital cafeteria, Yogi can't make up his mind what to have and goes into a crazed state leading Cindy to knock him out with a frying pan. Cindy wants to help Yogi with his problem and gives him a nuclear stomach which allows him to eat whatever he wants without getting hungry, which Boo Boo demonstrates by feeding him three different meals at once. At first, Yogi is freaked out, but Cindy knocks him out with a frying pan again, but then he realizes the benefits of this and goes around town eating tons of food. This creates an adverse effect on Yogi, however, as his new stomach has no limitations and neither does Yogi, now, so he uncontrollably eats Boo Boo, followed by other citizens of Jellystone, as well as parts of the town itself.

Mayor Huckleberry and the remaining citizens have an emergency town meeting, where the Mayor has no answers and Dr. Cindy wavers all responsibility. Top Cat uses this opportunity to sell off a paint can as a Yogi repellant, but quickly proves himself a fraud when Yogi eats him whole. Yogi then eats even more citizens until only a handful remains.

Doggie gets Augie to use her song to soothe Yogi, but this only irritates him and refuses to eat her, which actually infuriates her dear old dad. Cindy realizes that Yogi must eat Augie in order for her terrible song to upset his stomach and regurgitate all the devoured citizens of Jellystone. Cindy pours barbeque sauce over everyone which makes Augie irresistible to Yogi, despite her bad song.

Inside Yogi's stomach, Cindy instructs everyone to sing Augie's song which overloads Yogi's nuclear stomach and causes him to throw everyone back up... Everyone except Boo Boo, that is, who's still stuck floating around in Yogi's stomach, and worse, has that dumb kittens song stuck in his head.

Memorable quotes

Granny Sweet: You saved me!
Yogi: It's what we do, for we are the doctors of Jellystone Hospital!
Boo Boo: Also, here's your bill for ten thousand dollars.

Yogi: So, what is this, uh, doohickey you put in me?
Cindy: "Doohickey" is the technical term. I prefer to call it a nuclear stomach. It generates an infinite void so you can eat as much as you like and never get full!
Yogi: Thank you, Cindy! That's the nicest, most amazing thing anyone's ever done for me!
Boo Boo: I gave you a kidney.

Winnie: He ate my magic broom! We were going to get married next month!
Mayor Huckleberry: Yep, well, okay, see...
Captain Caveman: He eat my sweet pen. Me still have ten payments left.
Mayor Huckleberry: Well, okay, you see...
Jabberjaw: He ate my madi-pedi shop. Now where am I going to get my nails done?
Mayor Huckleberry: Yeah, well, okay, you see, I hear your concerns. I also occasionally hear ghosts.

Cindy: Let's talk about what we're not going to do. We're not going to blame anybody, so let's not point fingers, because it could be anybody's fault. These things just happen, and in conclusion, I was in the bathroom when this was all going down--pooping a big poo.

Cindy: Yogi, you've got to eat Augie!
Yogi: Ugh, no thank you.
Doggie: How dare you! You eat up the whole town, but my little girl isn't good enough for you?

Yogi: What have I done? I ate all my friends, all my delicious friends. I'm a monster, a handsome, handsome monster!

Yogi: Yeah, yeah, I always kinda knew it would end like this with me eating everyone.

Boo Boo: Hello?! Where did everybody go?! I got that dumb song stuck in my head now. 🎵Kitten around, I'm just kitten around.🎵

Release

Dates are in order of release:

Behind the scenes

  • The opening theme gag is of Bleep crashing his spaceship into a building.
  • HBO Max streams this back to back with "Gorilla in Our Midst," while Cartoon Network airs this independently. Both versions have their own end credits to reflect the differences.
  • HBO Max incorrectly listed this episode as "Yogi's Tummy Troubles."
  • Yogi says he was having a dream about driving space cars around the galaxy, which is a reference to the Hanna-Barbera-produced TV series Yogi's Space Race.
  • When Yogi announces he wants to eat everyone, he chases them like Pac-Man from the video game of the same name.
  • In the Spanish dub for this episode, Huckleberry says he hears voices in his head instead of ghosts.
  • A video game for this episode was later made for Cartoon Network's website called Yogi's Hungry which plays like Pac-Man.

Errors

  • The BBQ sauce is mentioned to have been made since 1985, but if this was supposed to be a reference to the year The Biskitts aired, this is wrong, as it aired in 1983.
  • If inspected closer when the characters first appear in front of Jellystone Hall, there seem to be two Mildews.
    • Grape Ape's size also seems to be unusually small.
  • Yogi is shown to eat Magilla when he's driving in his car, yet Magilla still appears in front of Jellystone Hall.
  • When it views the townspeople inside of Yogi's nuclear stomach, El Kabong isn't wearing his mask.
