Production

Development

In early storyboards, the Brokeback Mountain parody was more clear and Captain Caveman and Cavey Jr. went to the movie theater instead of El Kabong and Bobbie Louie.[1]

The music was composed by Ego Plum.

Release

Dates are in order of release:

Behind the scenes

  • The episode's title and plot are inspired by the 1963 film It's a Mad Mad Mad World, and the 2001 film Rat Race (the latter starring Rowan Atkinson, Whoopi Goldberg, Seth Green, Wayne Knight, and Kathy Najimy).
  • HBO Max lists this episode as a season two episode.
  • This episode has the most cameos in the entire season:
    • Dino and Orbitty as playground equipment.
    • Brak and Zorak on a poster for Bradbuk Peak.
    • The first Jellystone! appearance of Secret Squirrel and Morocco Mole. The former appears in a movie poster for The Blow-ening.
    • Atom Ant appears on a movie poster for Oh No!
      • The poster itself is a reference to the film Brokeback Mountain, a reference to their friendship in the Adult Swim show The Brak Show, but also has homosexual implications given the story in Brokeback Mountain.
    • Among the caricature drawings Dirty Dawg is selling, one of them is Babu.
      • This was likely put in as reference to Greenblatt originally wanting to have Babu in the series, but was unable to due to the Jeannie trademark being under Columbia's rights rather than Warner Bros.'s rights.
    • Inch High from Inch High, Private Eye makes his first Jellystone appearance as well.
  • The slogan for Sauna Sweats and Sandwiches is a reference to the slogan of the Italian restaurant Olive Garden: "When you're here, you're family."
  • Grape Ape picks up a water tower that has the series logo on it.

Everlasting influence

In "Jellystone Noir," Morocco also makes sandwich deliveries on a bicycle.

Errors

  • The face on the treasure was drawn, but Yogi wipes it off as if it was glued on.
