In early storyboards, the Brokeback Mountain parody was more clear and Captain Caveman and Cavey Jr. went to the movie theater instead of El Kabong and Bobbie Louie.

• The episode's title is a portmaneau between the 1963 film It's a Mad Mad Mad World, and its 2001 remake Rat Race.
• HBO Max lists this episode as a season two episode.
• This episode has the most cameos in the entire season:
  • Dino and Orbitty as playground equipment.
  • Brak and Zorak on a poster for Bradbuk Peak.
    • The poster itself is a reference to the 2005 film Brokeback Mountain, alluding to the homosexual story of the film, while also referencing Brak and Zorak's friendship in the Adult Swim show The Brak Show.
  • The first Jellystone! appearance of Secret Squirrel and Morocco Mole. The former appears in a movie poster for The Blow-ening.
