Captain Caveman, or simply "Cavey" for short, is a small, hairy caveman and the main title character of the Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels animated television series. He is the mascot of the Teen Angels, and usually carries a cub that enables him to fly, among its other functions. Billed as "the world's first superhero," he was unfrozen in the modern day to solve supernatural-related mysteries. His voice was originated by Mel Blanc.
Character description
Captain Caveman is a short man with brown hair that mostly covers his entire body. He has a long, bulbous nose, large hands and feet, and long hair strands on top of his head and cheeks. He wears an orange cape with spots, which that of a prehistoric loincloth.
He is an innocent, but wild individual who gets unpredictable at times. Although he is incredibly strong, his enthusiasm to modern conveniences – all completely new to him – leads to many comedic situations. But in spite of his limited knowledge on the modern world, Cavey is good-natured and always strives to help out his friends and others when needed. He also has the occasional bad habit of eating non-food objects (e.g. bicycles, TV sets, safes, table lamps). He speaks in stereotypical "caveman-talk", replacing subject pronouns with their object equivalents and dropping articles such as "the" (for example, "Me know where bad guys are hiding."), and often mumbles the nonsense phrase "unga bunga".
In the film "Scoob!", Captain Caveman is portayed differently from his usual depictions, as he is adorned with a combat uniform and is capable of speaking proper English.
Abilities
Cavey has super strength, in addition to invulnerability, super speed, the ability to pulling various things from his hairy body, and the ability to eat large objects in a single gulp. He also posses a large, wooden club, which houses various gadgets from inside – such as his flashlight, which consists of a bird holding a candle – and grants him the ability to fly, albeit temporarily, as it would always seem to fail at him at any possible moment. Along with the Teen Angels, he has an experience in being a detective.

Biography
Debut Series
Not much was known about Captain Caveman prior in his debut series, but as depicted in the opening sequence, he was thawed from a frozen block of ice, after he was discovered in a cave by a group of amateur detectives known as Teen Angels. He soon joined the group, where they would help together and go across the country to solve mysteries related to supernatural phenomena.
Laff-A-Lympics
In Laff-A-Lympics, Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels are members of the Scooby Doobies along with Scooby-Doo and other similar "mystery-solving" stars from the 1970s.
The Captain meets the Flintstones
In The Flintstone Comedy Show, he was once a citizen in Bedrock. He worked at The Daily Granite newspaper with Wilma Flintstone and Betty Rubble, and had a meek, Clark Kent-like secret identity named "Chester".
Captain Caveman has a son?
In The Flintstone Kids, Captain Caveman received a segment within the show entitled Captain Caveman and Son, where he solved crimes in Bedrock with his son Cavey Jr.
Harvey Birdman Represents
In the Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law episode "Evolutionary War", Cavey turns to Harvey Birdman to represent him when Cavey Jr.'s school refuses to teach evolution, which claimed that it is just a myth.
Scooby's Fever-Dream
Captain Caveman appeared in the Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated episode, "Mystery Solvers Club State Finals." He and the Teen Angels appear alongside other Hanna-Barbera detective teams from Jabberjaw (TV series), Speed Buggy, and The Funky Phantom in Scooby's fever dream.
SCOOB!
In the film Scoob!, Captain Caveman is an inhabitant of a prehistoric ecosystem under Messick Mountain, along with a tribe of long-haired cave people resembling him.
Every Superhero Needs an Origin Story
Captain Caveman appeared in the Yabba Dabba Dinosaurs episode "Caveman Begins," where he is simply known as "Caveman" and never wore a loincloth. He lived in the Crags until Bamm-Bamm Rubble encountered him.
Everyone's Back in Jellystone!
In Jellystone!, Captain Caveman is a resident of the titular town along with his son Cavey Jr., of which he was unaware of until the episode "Ice Ice Daddy."

Development
According to Mark Evanier, the series Captain Caveman starred in used Charlie's Angels as an inspiration, with initial plans to include a Yosemite Sam-type character. The design of the character got hairier until an individual suggested that he should be a caveman.[2]
The design of Captain Caveman likely took inspiration from the Slag Brothers on the Wacky Races franchise.

Behind the scenes
In popular culture
- In the Family Guy episode "The Perfect Castaway," Peter becomes Tom Hanks in the film Castaway, after being shipwrecked on a deserted island with his friends, growing a long beard and trying to catch fish. Peter takes out a pocket watch as Hanks does, but instead of his wife (or girlfriend in Hanks's character case), Peter carries a photo of Captain Caveman.
- In the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia episode "A Very Sunny Christmas," Mac finds his old toy club in his childhood wardrobe, eliciting him to shout "Captain Caveman," and reminds Charlie of how they'd shave the neighborhood dogs' fur off and glue to their faces to play as Captain Caveman.
