Behind the scenes
In popular culture
- Jurnee Smollett plays Gaia in the fourth and final live-action short in Funny or Die Captain Planet with Don Cheadle sketch short form series. Captain Planet and Gaia are lovers who have turned against humanity for all their wrong doings, even doing away with the Planeteers. When the woodpeckers, who Captain Planet has made an enemy of, break into their treehouse headquarters, Captain Planet accidentally turns Gaia into a tree while trying to fight off the woodpeckers.
- In the Robot Chicken episode "Gimme That Chocolate Milk," Captain Planet again grows vengeful against humanity and wants to start over with permission from Gaia. He burns the Earth down and recreates it as a paradise with only him and Gaia to enjoy it.
