In popular culture
- Brenda Song plays Gi in the first live-action Funny or Die short form series Captain Planet with Don Cheadle. The Planeteers call on Planet to stop Hoggish Greedly, but are horrified when he goes a step too far by turning him into a tree. When Kwame speaks up, Planet turns him into a tree, too, and threatens the other Planeteers if they try and stop him. In part two, it is revealed that she turned her into a tree along with the rest of the Planeteers, except for Ma-Ti who he forces into being his servant. When Ma-Ti walks across his friends who have been turned into trees, he hears Gi cry, "Water."
