Behind the scenes
- Mystery Inc. is in its hometown of Crystal Cove, the same hometown setting of the Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated TV series.
- Trini Lee is advertised on the front of a theater for her one-night-only performance, which is a reference to her being a singer on the Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated TV series.
- Elvira appeared in the previous film, Scooby-Doo! Return to Zombie Island.
- Citizens are dressed on Halloween as the following:
- Old Blue Falcon from the 2013 DTV film Scooby-Doo! Mask of the Blue Falcon.
- Dorothy Gale and Tin Man from the 1939 MGM musical film The Wizard of Oz.
- Scooby's DIY Dynomutt costume from the 2013 DTV film Scooby-Doo! Mask of the Blue Falcon.
- Mystery Incorporated had heard of the Scarecrow after spending time in Gotham City in the 2018 DTV film Scooby-Doo! & Batman: The Brave and the Bold. They also personally had involvement with him in the Scooby-Doo! Team-Up Issue #2, although the comic may not be canon.
- Red Herring was the neighborhood bully from the A Pup Named Scooby-Doo prequel series.
- There is a kid who resembles Elliot Blender from the What's New, Scooby-Doo? episodes "Space Ape at the Cape" and "Big Appetite in Little Tokyo."
- Fred mentions that the previous Halloween the gang was up past midnight catching the ghosts of the Three Stooges, which is a reference to them meeting the Three Stooges in The New Scooby-Doo Movies episodes "Ghastly Ghost Town" and "The Ghost of the Red Baron."
- Velma mentions how they have been solving mysteries "since they got a pup named Scooby-Doo," a reference to the prequel series A Pup Named Scooby-Doo.
- Although not directly referenced, Velma has kept in touch with Bill Nye since they first met in the Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? episode "Space Station Scooby."
- Elvira asks if Daphne has done circus work before, to which she responds by saying she hasn't done official circus work. She likely meant from an off-screen experience, but Daphne has been part of circus acts in the Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! episode "Bedlam in the Big Top," and the DTV film Big Top Scooby-Doo!
- When the Mystery Machine X first starts driving, the holographic Bill Nye dons a deerstalker hat and pipe like Sherlock Holmes.
- While Daphne uses a blowtorch, she uses Fred's middle name, Herman, first used in the 2005 DTV movie Aloha, Scooby-Doo!
- Mike mentions having watched the 1973 film Westworld, which was also remade as a 2010s TV series.
- Daphne once pretended to be Phyllis Diller at one point, which is an indirect reference to the real Diller being a guest in The New Scooby-Doo Movies episode "A Good Medium Is Rare."
- At the end of the movie, a house party parent/host is dressed as Fred Flintstone from the TV series The Flintstones.
- A guest is dressed as Harley Quinn, another Batman villain.
- Grey Griffin is uncredited as Victoria Hasselbaum.
Errors
- Given that A Pup Named Scooby-Doo was set in Coolsville, this movie contradicts this by renaming the city Crystal Cove.
- The Mystery Machine is back without explanation, despite Fred having sold it in Scooby-Doo! and the Curse of the 13th Ghost.
