Loopy De Loop is an anthropomorphic wolf and the main title character in the Loopy De Loop animated theatrical shorts. He is a "friendly wolf," unlike most other wolves, who tries to prove to those that not all wolves are necessarily bad. Due to his heritage, however, he is usually tortured in some way in the end. His voice was originated by Daws Butler.

In Max's Jellystone! reboot series, Loopy is a female wolf with a highly sardonic personality. She is a worker at the Magilla's clothing store, along with Jabberjaw.

Character description

Loopy De Loop is a tall wolf with brown fur and a long snout. His attire consists of a yellow toque and a yellow scarf.

Personality-wise, Loopy considers himself to be a charming and considering wolf. He makes a living by being a good samaritan, using his kindness to persuade humans of clearing the bad reputation his species gets. Despite his determination, his antics have lead Loopy getting beat up or chased out by the very people he tries to help, all for no other reason than the prejudice of being a wolf. His bid to converse in a French-Canadian accent may have also been a part of his failings.

In the Jellystone!, Loopy is female wolf and has a personality much different than her previous counterpart. Whereas Loopy in his own series is a highly sentimental gentleman, this iteration is far less friendly in this series and is more quick to make a deadpan one-liner. She wears a beret instead of a toque.

Biography

Everyone's Back in Jellystone!

Loopy De Loop is pared up with Jabberjaw and the two work at Magilla's, a fashion boutique owned by Magilla Gorilla.

In "A Coconut to Remember," Loopy suggests burning down Magilla's store when Jabberjaw doesn't get the promotion she wanted.

Development

During Hanna-Barbera's early years, a series of theatrical shorts staring Loopy De Loop were created to compete with the likes of Disney and Warner Bros. The character himself seems to have been based off of Pepé Le Pew from the Looney Tunes franchise, as the two share a similar French accent and personality; Michael Maltese, one of the writers of the Loopy De Loop shorts, was also the co-creator of Pepé along with Chuck Jones. Additionally, the shorts themselves bare resemblance to those of Casper the Friendly Ghost, with Loopy attempting to help others in a similar fasion to Casper.

During production on Jellystone!, Melody Iza, herself a transgender artist, suggested for Loopy to be turned into a transgender female character mid production. Iza suggested the same change to Baba Looey and Squiddly Diddly.
