Middle-mannered surburbaner Harold Smith secretly plots against the Powerpuff Girls, and when his wife invites them over for dinner, he has the perfect opportunity to defeat them--at least after dinner, if his wife has anything to say about it.

Detailed summary

Memorable quotes

Narrator: The city of Townsville--An average city with average suburbs and average neighborhoods with average family homes. Here, we start with an average family, the Smiths.

MaryAnne: What a joker Harold is. You’re joking, right, Harold?
Harold: No. I’m finally free, MaryAnne. I’m the arch-villain I always wanted to be. No more mustard jars and routine days for me! And definitely no more average Harold Smith! I am now supervillain—uh, Harold Smith!

Harold: Eat your pea, Professor.
(The Professor slowly forks a single pea from his plate like a scared hostage—complete with a close-up shot of the fork piercing the oozing vegetable—but is hesitant to really eat it with Harold holding his "gun" near him)
Harold: Eat it!
(The unfortunate Professor finally puts his pea in his mouth. He then chews the pea, slowly moving his cheeks back and forth. This goes on for almost 20 seconds before Harold finally has enough)
Harold: SWALLOW IT!! (The Professor does so)
MaryAnne: Who wants desert?
Professor Utonium: I do!!
Harold: AW, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, MARYANNE!!

MaryAnne: Those Powerpuff Girls ruined my dinner!
Narrator: Oh, uh. Looks like evil runs in the family. So once again, the day is saved--I mean, dinner is ruined, thanks to the Powerpuff Girls!

Release

Dates are in order of release:

  • United States: August 6, 1999 on Cartoon Network

Behind the scenes

  • The episode title is a pun on "Super villain." Get it?
  • Bud was originally Buttercup's intended name before it was changed, probably because "Bud" sounds too masculine for a girl.

Errors

  • The way Harold responds to MaryAnn asking who wanted dessert, the expression on his face looks more humored than annoyed.
  • The police just burst into the house without any knowledge of what's going on. Even if there had been a phone call of the noise, the police wouldn't just burst down the front door without a solid reason. Well...
