- The cast of The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan was retooled into a Japanese family instead of a Chinese family, for the Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law episode "Shoyu Weenie".
- Wacky Races, Tom and Jerry, and The Powerpuff Girls are the three most popular Hanna-Barbera cartoons in Japan.
- Several Hanna-Barbera artists, such as Willie Ito, Steve Nakagawa, and Iwao Takamoto, were from Japan.
- Some 1980s episodes of The Jetsons were outsourced to Toei Animation, a prolific Japanese animation studio known for creating such television series as Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, Sailor Moon, and Digimon Adventure.
- The anime Powerpuff Girls Z was produced by Toei Animation, and takes place in Tokyo City; although in the English dub of the series, it is instead located in New Townsville.
- American animator Davis Doi created a piece of artwork as a gift to Japanese manga artist Kazuhiko Katō (known by his pen name, Monkey Punch) — the creator of the Lupin III manga — depicting Barney Rubble meeting with the titular character in his Fred Flintstone disguise.
- Frankenstein Jr. is thought to have similarities to Gigantor, a giant robot known as Tetsujin 28-gō (鉄人28号) in its original Japanese counterpart.
