Valerie is the tambourinist and back-up singer of Josie and the Pussycats who acts as one of the main characters in the Josie and the Pussycats animated franchise. She is voiced by Barbara Pariot.

Biography

Valerie Sells Out

In the Teen Titans Go! episode "Cartoon Feud," Control Freak hijacks the Teen Titans' TV and displays photos of Jonny Quest, Josie and the Pussycats (specifically of Josie, Melody, and Valerie), and Scooby-Doo, which he views as something classic the viewers at home would rather watch on Cartoon Network, but can't because the schedule is always lined up with Teen Titans Go!

• Josie and the Pussycats appeared in Craig Titley's 1996 draft in what eventually morphed into Scooby-Doo in 2002.

In popular culture

• In the series Drawn Together, one of the main characters is Foxxy Love, a parody of Valerie, who is a mystery-solving musician like her. There was a deleted scene in the first episode, "Hot Tub," in which she was the lead singer of an all-girl group called the Foxxy 5 who were all of different ethnicities, but when they officially appeared in "Captain Hero's Marriage Pact," they were all black.
