Detailed summary
Memorable quotes
Randy: No more, Mom. Come on, come on. I mean, that is like your third memory card
Mom: Sorry. It's just that I remember my prom. So much joy, so much passion. The best night of our lives, remember, dear?
Dad: You didn't go with me!
Mom: Oh. Right.
Ghost Girl: Be my boyfriend, Randy. FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER.
Vincent: Suck on that, suckers!
Vincent: Time to slice up some fresh bacon!
Mayor Jones: Hazy fantasie, Fred! Didn't you hear me when I said, "If you see a ghost girl, do not go to the prom with her."
Alice: And I would have succeeded, too, if it weren't for you meddling...schoolmates...of mine!
Shaggy: Ah, Scooby-Doo, you gotta believe me. I wanted to watch the marathon with you, but, like...
Scooby: Uh-uh. Don't touch me.

Behind the scenes
- Randy, his mom, and his dad are parodies of Eric Foreman and his parents, Red and Kitty, from the sitcom That '70s Show.
- The names of the people who worked on the vampire movie at the beginning are the real people that worked on this episode.
- Shaggy and Velma have been together for a month.
- Velma says "Jinkies" thrice.
- Shaggy says "Zoinks" twice.
- The flashback to the Creeper case is based on events in the Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! episode "Jeepers, It's the Creeper." Mr. Carswell's name has been changed to Deacon Carlswell.
- There are cameos of Suzie Chan from The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan, and Multi-Man and Coil-Man from the TV series The Impossibles.
- Special thanks are given to Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, not because they worked on this episode, but because they created Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!
Errors
- Even though Randy's from a "couple of towns" over, Randy's mom had a few other appearances after this episode which suggested that she had either moved or had always been a resident of Crystal Cove.
- Alice says that Mystery Inc. will discover she pretended to be Carslwell's daughter, although she gave them too much credit than they're clearly worth, as they never do.
Legacy
- This is the first time a rift is formed between Scooby and Shaggy because of the latter secretly dating Velma behind his back. Scooby being angered by Shaggy ditching him for movie night to go to the prom with Velma is brought up in the next episode, "In Fear of the Phantom."
- Also in the next episode, when Fred realizes he likes Daphne, he remembers back to dancing with her at prom.
- Alice May returns in "Pawn of Shadows."
Marketing and promotion
The episode inspired the fifth stage of Cartoon Network to update their online game, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated: Crystal Cove Online, which was updated at the time of the episode's release.
