Scooby Apocalypse is an American sci-fi/horror ongoing comic book series based on a concept by Jim Lee, and developed by Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis. It was published by DC Comics, running for thirty-six issues from 2016 to 2019. It is based on the 1969-1970 Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! television series.
In the UK, they were licensed to Titan Magazines.
Production
The story was conceived by DC Comics co-publisher and artist Jim Lee, who also designed the first four covers. Lee, however, passed the job of writing the comics onto Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis.
At Wondercon 2016, DC shared in a panel that there would be a loose continuity between Scooby Apocalypse, Wacky Raceland, and at the time unplanned The Jetsons, with the events of Scooby Apocalypse "feeding" into the latter two; Scooby-Doo and Muttley do share the same emotigoggles.[1]
It was cancelled in 2019 after 36 issues, due to Warner Bros.' growing dislike of the mature Hanna-Barbera reboots made by DC Comics.[2]
