McCann died on April 8, 2018 at the age of 83.

McCann was the voice of Sonny the Cuckoo Bird, famously proclaiming he was "Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs", in commercials for the aforementioned cereal. Duckworth and Burger Beagle in Disney's DuckTales cartoon of the 1980s, and the Thing in the 1990s Fantastic Four series on Fox Kids; at one point he not so famously rapped "It's Clobberin' Time" in a first season episode.
