- Glitter, Matoona, and the king are parodies of Ariel, Ursula, and King Triton, respectively, from the 1989 film The Little Mermaid. Matoona is also a parody of the singer Madonna.

- Droopy reads from a piece of paper that Matoona has gone to "The Slippery Eel Club," but the sign on the building simply says "Slippery Eel."
