Officer Charlie Dibble is a police officer who stars as a main character in the Top Cat animated television series. His voice was originated by Allen Jenkins.
Officer Dibble's goal in life is to keep Top Cat and his gang under control in his beat. Though he tries is best to have them clean their alley and stay off his police telephone, Dibble remains as T.C.'s foil by being the one who falls under his wily tricks.
Character description
Dibble is a tall and stout man with fair skin, always sharply dressed in the blue police uniform and looking orderly. His black hair is always slicked back to maintain a professional appearance, though it tends to be hidden by the blue cap of his uniform.
Often referred to as a "by-the-book cop," Dibble is committed to his job and is often found trying to help civilians out in New York. Despite doing his job very well in that area, none could have suffered worse when he has to deal with Top Cat and his gang. The meddlesome cop is somewhat unlucky to be the main victim of their shenanigans, being easily tricked by both T.C.'s smooth talk and wild antics. Not only that, but Dibble does not stand the sight of T.C. personally using the telephone at his patrol box.
Though his strict attitude grumpily resents T.C. and the gang, he has a heart of gold and is sometimes respectful of their presence. For example, there are a few episodes of the show where he cares about their well-being. Dibble is also quite emotional, as he can be quite sensitive at times.
