The All-New Super Friends Hour,[Note 1] also known as Super Friends, is an American animated superhero television series produced by Hanna-Barbera and DC Comics for ABC's Saturday morning line-up. It ran in 1977, airing a total of 15 episodes that spanned one season. It was the second Super Friends series after the original 1973 series of the same name.
The Super Friends are joined by Zan and Jayna, junior superheroes with actual superpowers (unlike the Junior Super Friends), along with their pet monkey, Gleek, and a whole slew of guest stars, including newly created ethnic ones, which unintentionally causes more problems than fixes them. Some of these additions, such as Apache Chief and Black Vulcan, are spoofed by themselves on the Adult Swim TV series Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law.
