The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians is an American animated superhero television series produced by Hanna-Barbera and DC Comics for ABC's Saturday morning line-up. It ran in 1985, airing 8 episodes that spanned one season. It was the seventh and final Super Friends series after the original 1973 series of the same name. It was canceled by ABC due to steadily declining ratings.[1]
The entire series has been released on DVD.
Production
Development
The change in title from Super Friends to The Super Powers Team, was at the behest of toy sponsor Kenner, to coincide with their Super Powers Collection line.[2]
According to writer Alan Burnett, "The Fear," was originally written as a pilot for an unproduced Batman series. When those plans fell through, Hanna-Barbera executive Jeffrey Scott convinced the network to accept it as an episode of The Super Powers Team.[3]
Music
The music was composed and conducted by Hoyt Curtin, with musical supervision from Paul DeKorte.
