Behind the scenes

• The background of the series title card is in the form of a brick wall that crumbles in reference to the brick wall hiding Dr. Perdue's lab.
• Velma has a poster in her room of Crystal Cove Fog Fest 2006.
• William calls Fred Frederick when he forbids him from letting Velma in the limo.
• General Meeting's hatred of "meddling kids" in the 1970s is a reference to the term used by the villains for Mystery Incorporated in the Scooby-Doo franchise.
• S.C.O.O.B.I. is an allusion to Scooby-Doo, the dog that wasn't allowed in this series and who is the namesake of the original 1969 TV series, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! and the spin-offs that came afterwards until Velma. When Velma questions it, she says, "What does S.C.O.O.B.I. do?"
