Detailed summary

Memorable quotes

Barney: Hey, how come we're going to the doctor instead of the golf course, Fred? Are you sick?
Fred: Of course, I'm not sick. I'm as fit as a fiddle. But Wilma says I can't play golf until I start acting like a human begin.
Barney: (laughing) Some wives really set impossible tasks for the husbands, don't they?

Release

Dates are in order of release:

  • United States: November 2, 1962 on ABC

Behind the scenes

  • The word "pregnant" was not used throughout this episode due to strict broadcast standards at the time, so implications regarding the topic were instead used.
  • Fred says he was called Dizzy Flintstone while playing on his high school football team.
  • Fred wants to practice playing ball with Arnold for the future son he thinks he will have. Ultimately, while he never has a son, it is after this episode, that Wilma would eventually be revealed as pregnant with their future daughter, Pebbles, in the season three episode "The Surprise."
  • According to Fred, Mr. Slate has four kids.

Errors

  • Is Arnold allowed to give special rates himself?
  • Fred doesn't know what an X-ray is, which contradicts "The X-Ray Story" from the second season.
  • Fred wants to save money by having his mother-in-law act as a nurse when Wilma has her alleged baby, but when they do have a baby, he hates the idea of having his mother-in-law stay. In "Foxy Grandma," he would rather hire a housemaid than call his mother-in-law for help.
