"The Surprise" is the nineteenth episode of The Flintstones season three, and the seventy-ninth overall. It aired on January 25, 1963 on ABC. It was written by Warren Foster, and produced and directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, the creators of the series and the founders of Hanna-Barbera Productions.

When Barney skip a bowling tournament with Fred in favor of raising Betty's baby nephew, Fred grows resentful with the infant.

Despite this being the momentous event in which Wilma reveals she is pregnant with Pebbles, Hanna-Barbera was a bit ahead of itself as "Foxy Grandma" was actually produced before this episode in which Fred is trying to make Wilma's life easier while being pregnant.
