Behind the scenes

  • Global Security is a parody of S.H.I.E.L.D., a spy organization in comic publications by Marvel Comics.
    • Likewise, the Commander is a parody of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury.
  • Part of Simion's speech to Monkey in getting him to join his cause, "Together we can combine our forces and bring a new order to the galaxy ... Seek your heart. You know it to be true," is a paraphrase of Darth Vader's speech to Luke Skywalker in the 1980 film Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, when Vader says, "With our combined strength, we can end this destructive conflict and bring order to the galaxy ... Search your feelings. You know it to be true."
  • Simion quotes the song "I Wan'na Be Like You" from the 1967 Disney film The Jungle Book, when he says to Monkey, "I wanna walk like you, talk like you, oo-ooo" although when King Louie said that to Mowgli, it was about humanizing himself like Mowgli.
  • This is the only episode Honeydew is voiced by Paula Tiso, with all further appearances assumed by Kath Soucie.
