Behind the scenes
- The title is a play on the 1968 film Night of the Living Dead.
- The opening sequence uses scenes from The New Scooby-Doo Movies and the special itself.
- Matthew Sweet's rendition of "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?" was originally a cover for the album Saturday Morning: Cartoons' Greatest Hits.
- Scenes are taken from the Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! episodes "Which Witch Is Which?," "Foul Play in Funland, and "A Gaggle of Galloping Ghosts."
- The monsters are taken from "Which Witch is Which?" and "Scooby-Doo and a Mummy, Too."
- Scooby sings the theme song from Diff'rent Strokes, the 1980s sitcom that made Gary Goleman famous.
- Shaggy says "Zoinks" twice.
- Velma says "Jinkies" once.
- As pointed out by Gary, it's unknown who the mummy was.
- Special thanks are given to Brendan & Evan Bigelow, Billy Cone, Dave Drabik, and Matt Peccini.
Errors
Legacy
- In the DVD audio commentary for Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs, Michael Rowe, a writer for the special, just randomly brings up how "[guest actor] David Cross was on a Scooby-Doo episode as himself", which gets a big laugh from everyone, and Billy West responds in a Scooby voice, "Ravid Ross?"
