Character description
Mom is portrayed as a archetypal housewife from classic television sitcoms: a stay-at-home wife who looks after her kids – Dexter and Dee Dee, a caring figure, and a parent who often does the house work. She stands out from this archetype, however, in that she serves a lot of authority in her household, even when her husband is present. She occasionally has a ferocious temper when she is disobeyed or angered in some way. In some instances, she's also a proficient fighter, as proven in episode like "Mom and Jerry" and "Maternal Combat." She is also afraid of germs, and is rarely seen without her gloves.
Additionally, Mom is more intelligent than her bumbling and somewhat childish husband, as shown in "The Muffin King," similar to the dynamic shown in their kids; she scolds Dad to leave the kitchen in spite of his love for Mom's muffins. Dexter's personality is implied to have been taken from Mom's perfectionism, in addition to her penchant for dramatics.
