Behind the scenes
- The episode title is a play on the video game series Mortal Kombat, beginning in 1992.
- The way Dexter brings the Momdroid to life, he screams, "It is alive," in a similar manner to Dr. Frankenstein screaming, "It's alive," in the 1931 film Frankenstein. The Momdroid also has bolts in its neck like Frankenstein's monster, and its hair is reminiscent of the Bride from the 1935 sequel, The Bride of Frankenstein.
- The two Momdroids fight like the Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots playset. At the end of the episode, Dee Dee also knocks Dexter's head up as one of the robots, too.
- The Dial M for Monkey short "Magmanamus" is placed between "DeeDimensional" and "Maternal Combat."
Errors
- Ironically, even though the title card shows real Mom engaging in a fight, she was too sick to be involved herself in the episode.
- When Dad greets his real wife, she is supposed to be in bed sick.
