"The Hot Dog Dog!" is the fourth episode of Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? season two, and the thirtieth overall. It aired on October 1, 2020 on Boomerang's SVOD service. It was written by Benjamin Townsend, produced by Chris Bailey, and directed by Sean Bishop.

Mystery Inc. investigates a historic hot dog factory, which is haunted by a living tree at the time of an annual hot dog eating contest involving real celebrity Joey Chestnut, who you may have only just heard of now.

Behind the scenes

With every episode's title card, one of the gang announces the guest star, which is Scooby this time.
The coach is a parody of Mickey Goldmill from the Rocky film series.
The establishing shot of Chicago at night is reused from "When Urkel-Bots Go Bad!", just with blue buildings instead of green.
How many times does Shaggy say "Zoinks?" Once.
How many times does Fred say "Hold the phone?" Once.

Errors

Shaggy had already acknowledged the fact that Joey Chesnut was on stage, so it was rather redundant when he and Scooby give the obligatory shock gag of saying the celebrity's name and their celebrity function, especially when Fred and the girls do the same thing when they also see him as well. The writers must think they're smart because Joey actually points this out.
"Big-Eddy" is hyphenated within the episode, but the voice credits do not, which makes more sense.
Grey Griffin is credited for voicing the worker, despite the latter not talking.
Fred Tatasciore is misspelled Fred Tatascoire.
