Detailed summary

Memorable quotes

Mayor Jones: Possies and pinwheels, Fred! Those gnomes are peaceful creatures. Scary gnomes are something very different, and good for tourism. So, stay out of this.

Velma: For the sake of those two, we better hope the whole pirate thing is a coincidence.

Gill: No one would have ever suspected me. That is, until you meddling, gnome-hating, pirate-loving--.
Sheriff Stone: Yeah, yeah, shrimpo, we got the picture.

Release

Dates are in order of release:

Behind the scenes

  • Ben & Jen are virtually the same as Dylan & Brenda from "Revenge of the Man Crab." One must wonder why those two weren't just used.
  • The paramedics resemble John Gage and Roy DeSoto from the TV series Emergency.
  • I'm Okay-You're a Scary Gnome is a parody of the self-help book I'm Okay, You're Okay.
  • None of the gang say their catchphrases.
  • Special thanks are given to Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, not because they worked on this episode, but because they created Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!

Errors

  • The mysterious executioner was possibly Mr. E (if not Ed Machine), but alas, the true identity was never revealed.
  • The idea of the tween girl's dad, from "The Creeping Creatures," was already inside at the time he's entering the faire at the time Lord Barry welcomes visitors. The idea of the dad appearing in this episode may not have been on everyone's mind, because he's been given a son that never appeared before. He also moments up again a few seconds later with a woman who doesn't appear to be his wife from when he was watching the belly dancer before apparently entering the faire for the first time. After the mystery is solved, he and his wife are in the same scene, but not together.
  • Lloyd Sherr and Gary Cole are credited for voicing the paramedics, even though they don't speak.

Everlasting influence

Marketing and promotion

The episode inspired the eighth stage of Cartoon Network to update their online game, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated: Crystal Cove Online, which was updated at the time of the episode's release.
