Behind the scenes
- The Black Knight, and the naming of the boy who wore the costume Geoff Wickles, is based on Mr. Wikles who was the Black Knight in the Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! episode "What a Night for a Knight."
- Thorn's real name is revealed to be Sally McKnight, just as it was in the direct-to-video film Scooby-Doo! and the Witch's Ghost.
- Thorn's donation of the spellbook is a reference to her use of Sarah Ravencroft's spellbook in the direct-to-video film Scooby-Doo! and the Witch's Ghost.
- When Velma says to Daphne the spellbook "spoke to [her]," Daphne responds if she meant like in the 2012 book (and later 2014 movie) The Fault in Our Stars.
- At the costume shop, they are selling a full-body suit of the Space Kook from the Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! episode "Spooky Space Kook."
- At the costume shop there is a mask of the Ghost Clown from the Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! episode "Bedlam in the Big Top." There is also a kid in the yearbook wearing a costume too.
- At the costume shop, a guy is wearing a sexy Captain Caveman from the Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels TV series.
- Norville and Lola wear sexy Pinky and the Brain costumes from the TV series Pinky and the Brain. Narf!
- Velma refers to late actress Angela Lansbury who played Jessica Fletcher in the long-running murder-mystery TV series Murder, She Wrote.
- At the party, someone is dressed as a sexy Fred Flintstone from The Flintstones TV series.
- In the class photos in the yearbook, there are students named after Peter Girardi and Sam Register, who work on the special as the executive in charge of production and executive producer, respectively.
- When Velma and Daphne see the photo of their parents in the yearbook, there are kids dressed as the Ghost of Captain Cutler and the Snow Ghost from the Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! episodes "A Clue for Scooby-Doo" and "That's Snow Ghost," respectively.
- Even though Jason Mantzoukas is credited for voicing Scrappy, it is just for his archived yelp from the previous episode, "Til Death."
- Kari Wahlgren is uncredited as Mary Louise and Amanda.
Errors
- Even though the audiobook narrator claimed he was just using the voice of Richard Kind, the voice credits say "Richard Kind as Richard Kind."
- The production accounting people are credited twice.
