Behind the scenes
- The episode title may be a reference to the 1942 short novel The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which turned into a movie in 1947 and again in 2013.
- Buttercup as R2-B2 and Jarod in the black suit and mask are parodies of R2-D2 and Darth Vader, respectively, from the Star Wars movies.
- The break dancing fantasy is full of Easter eggs from 80s dance movies, songs, singers, as well as other eras, slotted in:
- The rec center setting is a reference to Breakin': Electric 2 Boogaloo.
- Princess mimics Madonna's "Vogue" and the Village People's "YMCA."
- Blossom mimics the movies Flashdance, Saturday Night Fever, and Dancing in the Rain, Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and Salt-N-Pepa's "Push It," and Elvis Presley.
- Princess calls Blossom MC Puffy Pants in reference to MC Hammer, who was also known for wearing similar types of pants.
- There is a recurring gag of a robot coming in at the end of Blossom's fantasy and sometimes crushing Buttercup.
