Talk:Huckleberry Hound (character)

I feel like we should rename this page "Huckleberry Hound (character)" because of the television series and multiple books of his show sharing the same name. -- Snoopy The Dog (talk) 01:12, 3 October 2020 (UTC)

Okay. -- MisterJames (talk) 09:48, 3 October 2020 (UTC)
So should I get to renaming and let you delete the redirects that go with it? -- Snoopy The Dog (talk) 18:35, 3 October 2020 (UTC)

It's time for Hulu-maniacs

Huck and Yogi will have cameos in new Animaniacs. They pop between 1:51-52. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNCDu4nmt8M -- MisterJames (talk) 20:53, 21 October 2020 (UTC)

I also saw Boo Boo and Yakky. -- Snoopy The Dog (talk) 20:56, 21 October 2020 (UTC)
Can't believe I didn't notice that until now! Also saw Henery Hawk. I thought that was him even when they showed the tip of his head. -- MisterJames (talk) 21:05, 21 October 2020 (UTC)
I found out that the video had more HB characters including The Flintstones, George Jetson, Speed Bugs, Snagglepuss, Secret Squirrel, Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy etc. -- Snoopy The Dog (talk) 05:59, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
That's really cool. -- MisterJames (talk) 13:30, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

Son

The son should be sourced as well. I would say do it as a reference, but just mentioning it beside his name makes it sound exclusive to just that. -- MisterJames (talk) 21:45, 24 January 2021 (UTC)

I would say, yes. It definitely needs sourced because Huckleberry Hound, Jr. is exclusive to the Snagglepuss comics from DC. Although those comics had a dark turn for the actual Huck (I wouldn't spoil it, incase you would want to see it without already knowing what happens). -- Snoopy The Dog (talk) 22:18, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
Oh, it came from that! Our other contributor AlexandraCabot said that Huck Jr. is actually the comic counterpart of Huckleberry. -- MisterJames (talk) 02:30, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

Animaniacs

I'm not entirely sure if that Animaniacs cameo is necessary here. I don't feel it's canon (and I was the one who added it in the article). -- Snoopy The Dog (talk) 05:12, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

I wouldn't think it's necessarily canon, per se, but I think it still deserves an inclusion, especially since it's basically a guest appearance, like when Mytery Inc. and Rosie the robot have appeared on Teen Titans Go! Maybe there should be a special section for those kind of appearances. This is the perfect time to bring up the fact that I was recently shown that the two second clip of Space Jam: A New Legacy, there were cameos of Space Ghost, Magilla, and Dino. -- MisterJames (talk) 15:57, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
Maybe we could do that with WB's properties that HB characters make some kind of appearance in. BTW Yakky, Pixie and Dixie were originally going to appear in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, keep in mind that this was a Disney movie. Maybe we could include this on their trivia's? -- Snoopy The Dog (talk) 17:34, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
We should include that definitely. -- MisterJames (talk) 18:27, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

Hat

From what I've seen, he rarely wears his hat, even in his own show I barely saw him wearing it. -- Snoopy The Dog (talk) 18:55, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

Yellow tie

I've been thinking about that image that all it is is Huck wearing a yellow tie. It's essentially the same as the cartoon version with the red tie. It belongs more in the gallery. -- Signed by James (talk) 16:08, 26 December 2021 (UTC)

Yeah it kinda is, I originally added it because it's the Golden Book version. I think the Golden Book ones could probably be moved to their galleries? - Snoopy The Dog (talk) 20:54, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
I remember that we agreed that it was acceptable because it was showing his Golden Book version, but I feel that this isn't much of a stretch. Now, I think that it would be better in the galleries. (Perhaps the exception would be that Golden Books did a Flintstones book that was based on the original concept of the family having a son at the beginning. Although even then I think I'd rather not take up the space of more important versions of Fred and Wilma.) -- Signed by James (talk) 21:08, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
Okay, I'm fine with moving the Golden Book versions to their galleries, I don't really think we're missing out a whole on anything if we do this change. -- Snoopy The Dog (talk) 21:11, 26 December 2021 (UTC)

Jobs

Dear, everyone. Is it me, or does Huckleberry Hound have a lot of jobs? That's what I thought, and I was thinking if it's possible to create a page listing the occupations Huck has throughout his appearances in media, since he is known for having a wide array of jobs. It shouldn't be so hard if that's the case.

P.S. I also like to mention that Huckleberry Hound is one of my favorite Hanna-Barbera characters. -- QuestJ65 (talk) 05:34, 27 April 2023 (UTC)

I noticed. I'm not sure at the moment about the jobs page. --- Snoopy The Dog (talk) 06:37, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
I think a section would be okay. Maybe it can go above the development section. -- Signed by James (talk) 07:44, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
I agree. -- Snoopy The Dog (talk) 17:41, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
Thanks. The section has now been added to the page. -- QuestJ65 (talk) 18:21, 27 April 2023 (UTC)

Huck's song has lore

TIL that Huck's signature song, "Oh My Darling, Clementine", has lore explained within an episode of his own cartoon series. In "Legion Bound Hound", Huck served for the French Foreign Legion and it was at this point that he had forgotten part of the song's lyrics. It turned out that the reason why he regularly sings it is because it was a reminder of his fiancé, who only appeared once in this episode as a picture frame. The only other time this character appeared was in "The Greed Monster," an episode of Yogi's Treasure Hunt.

For some reason, I was both amazed and shocked that there was a deeper reason as to why Huck sings that song, since I previously assumed that it was just a simple running gag in the cartoon. But with this being explained in only one episode, it did really raise some questions regarding what happened to his fiancé.

It's also worth noting that the song's lyrics is about a person recalling his daughter who died of a drowning incident, so part of me wonders if Huck singing it was a reminder of his loss of a loved one. Whether she really died or not is up to one's guess, since her appearance in that Treasure Hunt episode looks different than the picture frame in the other cartoon.

It's just a theory, but like I said, I was very suprised to hear it when I saw that episode a while back. -- QuestJ65 (talk) 20:48, 29 April 2025 (UTC)

Edit: I also noticed that part of his background summary in the original cartoons got moved up in his primary biography section. Wonder if the same will happen to the other characters? - QuestJ65 (talk) 20:49, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
The problem with those background summaries is that the history section is supposed to be for what happens appearance by appearance, not a generalised overview (as almost each subheading suffers from this). I thought having it right at the top was a nice compromise, but I also think it could've been moved right at the top as part of his intro. -- Signed by James (talk) 21:48, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
I don't remember what happened in "Legion Bound Hound," but I definitely remember what happened in Yogi's Treasure Hunt. I was shocked that they turned Clementine into an actual character. -- Signed by James (talk) 21:49, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
Don't know how I feel about moving the background summary to the top instead of the subheadings, but this might work in some cases. If it's worthy enough to be solicited as such, then so be it. -- QuestJ65 (talk) 19:17, 30 April 2025 (UTC)
