Release
Dates are in order of release:
- United States: October 16, 2010 at 7 pm on Cartoon Network; March 1, 2011 on DVD and Blu-ray Disc
Behind the scenes
- On the side of the school bus, Coolsville High is in District #1969.
- The Mystery Machine's vanity plate is "MZTERY1."
- When Daphne and Fred disguise themselves in the clothing store, they dress virtually identically to their cartoon selves. Later, in the rap part of "Scared With You," Fred does wear a wig and matching clothes to look exactly like his cartoon counterpart.
- The end credits are played over what is supposed to be Scooby's scrapbook. Some of them include outtakes from the movie.
- A caption beneath the gang as a barbershop quartet says "Not the White Stripes" in reference to the rock duo of the same name.
- Another one reads "The Fresh Princess" under a photo of Daphne DJing, which refers to the nickname of actor/rapper Will Smith and his self-titled sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
- Mystery Inc. as a rock band is a parody of the Ramones.
- The rap part of "Scared With You" was written by director Brian Levant.
Errors
- Due to being filmed in America instead of Canada, the outside of the school looks completely different from the first film.
Marketing and promotion
In conjunction with the movie, Warner Bros. Consumer Products announced on February 12, 2010 that they had set up the "Scooby-Doo! Mystery Movie Sweepstakes" on Zoinks Points!! reward site which would give the prize winner, with three guests, a chance to visit the set during filming.[3][1]
On August 1, 2010, Cartoon Network aired a specially-created teaser trailer starring Nick Palatas and the voice of Frank Welker as Shaggy and Scooby, respectively, at the beach.
On March 1, 2011, Zoinks Points!! ran another sweepstakes for the DVD and Blu-ray's release, called "Scooby-Doo! Mystery Vacation Sweepstakes!" where the grand prize was an all-expense-paid vacation to a mystery lake resort for a family of four. In contrast, a runner up prize for ten people was a gift pack that consisted of a towel, blanket, lunch box, DVD of the movie, and a Ghost Patrol toy.[4]
