Behind the scenes
- Audio of Race insulting the tribe with the names "ignorant savages" and "heathen monkeys" was removed when Turner Entertainment bought the rights to the Hanna-Barbera library in the 1980s, likely due to its politically incorrect nature. The edited episode was included on the DVD in 2006, but was restored in the 2019 Blu-ray release.[1]

Legacy
In popular culture
- Main article: List of pop culture references to Jonny Quest
- In the Toby Danger segment of the second Freakazoid! episode, Dash O'Pepper, a parody of Race, refers to the casino players as "heathen monkeys" which is a reference to the racially infamous line Race made as mentioned above.
- Mike Pence, the Vice President to the 45th President of the United States Donald Trump, has been compared to Race, which led to a string of animated segments on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where non-sequential archival footage of Race from the original series would be used for reactions to whatever dumb thing President Trump had said in that week. In the cold opening for the October 4, 2019 episode, the final scene is of Pence/Race turning his head to see that the mysterious sound was coming from Koko the monkey, but instead of Bandit jumping up to get Koko, it is of Trump finally finding where Pence/Race had been hiding from him.
