"Hot Air Buffoon" is the first part of episode nine of The Powerpuff Girls season three, and the sixty-sixth episode overall. It aired on December 1, 2000 on Cartoon Network. Behind the scenes

The barefoot bandits resemble Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble from The Flintstones TV series.
Buttercup and Bubbles play a video game version of TV Puppet Pals, a puppet show within sister series Dexter's Laboratory.
The video game controllers that Buttercup and Bubbles play with resemble the Nintendo 64's controllers.

Errors

There are times when Ms. Bellum's face isn't being hidden by the hot air balloon because only the shoulders of Ms. Bellum have been drawn.
The girls have a drawing of a hand turkey, despite the fact none of them have any fingers.

Legacy

Despite giving up the hot air balloon, the Mayor flies around in it in the background of "Members Only," although this could be taken as a mistake.
