Detailed summary
Memorable quotes
Johnny: How about throwing in with us? I'd like to try that fancy surfboard myself.
The Thing: How about it? You can bunk in with old Ben?
Silver Surfer: Thank you, my friends. I was born to soar, ride the currents of space. My place is still in the skies above.
Silver Surfer: I shall not forget you. All of you. But now there are new planets to explore, new wonders to discover, and then one day when my wander lust is stilled, then perhaps, I shall return.

- United States: December 16, 1967 on ABC
Behind the scenes
- This episode is an adaptation of "The Galaxtus Trilogy" storyline from from Fantastic Four #48-50 (March – May 1966), which consist of "The Coming Of Galactus!", "If This Be Doomsday!" and "The Startling Saga Of The Silver Surfer!"; it was written by Stan Lee, and illustrated by Jack Kirby.
- In the original storyline, Alicia Masters—a blind sculptor and Ben's love interest—was the person who had given the Silver Surfer human emotions. Sue was given Alicia's role in the adaptation.
- In the comics published by Marvel Comics, the Watcher's real name is Uatu, although he isn't named that in this episode.
Errors
- The teleportation device the Watcher uses looks similar to the Ultimate Nullifer.
- Sue and Silver Surfer's kiss is rather inappropriate, especially since the Thing makes a whistle about it. Her husband, Reed, doesn't seem to mind.
