Crew credits

Release

Dates are in order of release:

  • United States: December 21, 1979

Behind the scenes

  • Brian drives a Ford pick-up truck.
  • When Monster sees Rascal shoot past him, he makes a crack by saying, "It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Super Dog," which is a paraphrase of the intro of the 1950s Adventures of Superman TV series, in which the famous line, "Look up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Superman!" was spoken.
  • Mr. Gibbs owns a Sony TV.
  • Ken calls C.H.O.M.P.S. Benji after the dog movie character.
  • There are Coca-Cola vending machines outside Norton Security and at the airport.
  • The Blu-ray releases of the film include an intro from actor Wesley Eure, and audio commentary from Eure and co-writer Duane Poole.

Errors

  • The first time the newscaster appears, it is with Don Messick's voice, but the second time he appears, it is with the actor's own voice.
  • The security device itself is labeled Norton Security Co., but the company itself is referred to as Norton Security Systems.

Marketing and promotion

As a tie-in, Scholastic adapted it into a book written by Vic Crume.
