Behind the scenes
- The episode is loosely inspired by the Jules Verne 1869-1870 serialized novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. The Captain Nemo in this episode points out he is the great-grandson of the original.
Errors
- Valerie is depicted as Caucasian when the gang rises to the surface and then when she and Alexander pick the others up on a speed boat.
- When Alexander comments on the secret elevator they just stopped into, Josie's lips are missing.
