- The episode title is a reference to the Scholastic book series The Baby-Sitters Club.
- Smarmaduke is a not very subtle parody of Marmaduke.
- Townsville has its own Heidelberg for some reason.
- For no reason whatsoever, the names of Poodles Canoodles and the Butt Sniffer have been changed to Frenchy and Bootius T. Sniffer in "In the Doghouse."
