The series is William Hanna and Joseph Barbera's first spin (and derivative) on their previous creation, Tom and Jerry; made suitably for an early television format. It follows the exploits of Pixie and Dixie, two rambunctious mice who outwit their main rival Mr. Jinks, a hip cat determined on clobbering the "meeces".

Legacy
Pixie, Dixie and Mr. Jinks appear in the Jellystone! reboot, with Jinks voiced by Jeff Bergman and Pixie voiced by Jenny Lorenzo. Jinks is Mayor Huckleberry's assistant, and Pixie and Dixie run a candy store called Pixie and Dixie's. Dixie is also reimagined as a girl in this series.
