Should we call him "Sylvester Sneakly" or just "Hooded Claw"? Because I pretty much already had him linked as "Sylvester Sneaky" on a few pages. -- Snoopy The Dog (talk) 20:21, 15 November 2021 (UTC)

Since he acts as the "Hooded Claw," the villain of the series, we should go with that. -- Signed by James (talk) 21:37, 15 November 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, I agree with you on this. -- Snoopy The Dog (talk) 21:44, 15 November 2021 (UTC)

The Perils of Penelope Pitstop on MeTV Toons

Hey James, Snoopy and QuestJ65, The Perils of Penelope Pitstop is now on MeTV Toons, but it seems like they're using DVD prints of that show for some reason rather than the newer HD restored prints, just like Wacky Races.

See here (at around 1:26): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITuk2vFbVMA

I just wish that show, along with Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, The Scooby-Doo Show and The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo probably might need newer HD restored prints, dontcha think? --Michael (talk) 19:19, 15 July 2024 (UTC)

Yeah, I guess they thought that the prints were decent enough. -- Snoopy The Dog (talk) 19:43, 16 July 2024 (UTC)

The Perils of Penelope Pitstop intro with the original music

Just seen a clip of "The Perils of Penelope Pitstop" intro with the original music which was taken from a Boomerang Central Europe airing, but for some reason it appears to be sped-up and high-pitched due to PAL speedup.

Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wly0OudvR5c

I just prefer the normal-pitched version of that, which possibly can be found on the 1997 UK VHS release of "The Perils of Penelope Pitstop: Bumper Edition", which is still my favourite VHS release.

The only episode of that show on DVD where the show's intro still retains the original music might possibly be "Hair Raising Harness Race", IIRC.

I believe that the PAL prints of that show were also like that when it used to be shown on BBC1 from 1970 until the mid-1980s, including on the BBC's The Saturday Picture Show from 1986 (which is also that same year i was born).

PAL speedup mostly happens to most US imports and movies (including "Highlander", "Top Gun" and "Iron Eagle" (all from 1986) and others) which air in most European countries such as the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and others, Australia and New Zealand such as classic "Tom and Jerry" and "Tex Avery" shorts (including "Droopy" and "Barney Bear"), "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!", "The New Scooby-Doo Movies", "The Scooby-Doo Show", "The Flintstones", "Top Cat", "Wally Gator", "Wacky Races", "Looney Tunes", "The Simpsons", "King of the Hill", Disney shows like "Goof Troop", "Bonkers" and others, "ThunderCats", "SilverHawks", "Murder, She Wrote", "Batman" (1966 TV Series), "Batman: The Animated Series", "The Pink Panther" cartoons (as well as the 1993 series of that said show), the "Star Trek" franchise (including TOS and TNG), "Knight Rider", "Airwolf", "The A-Team" and many others (including "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" (1983) and "She-Ra: Princess of Power" by Filmation), although i prefer them and this show as well as "The New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show" (1983), "The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries" (1984) and "The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo" (1985) being in the NTSC pitch and speed better.

I think both "Queen: We Will Rock You" and "Queen: Live in Budapest" were also high-pitched and sped-up on the VHS and Laserdisc releases, but nowadays, they both run with the correct speed and pitch when they were released and re-titled as "Queen Rock Montreal" and "Queen: Hungarian Rhapsody: Live in Budapest 1986" on DVD and Blu-ray releases, respectively.

I also think that shows produced by ITC Entertainment, such as "Thunderbirds", "Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons" and "Space: 1999" also run at 25fps which was the standard for television broadcasting in Europe at that time, as are LWT's "The Professionals" and the 1960s TV series "The Avengers" (starring Patrick MacNee, Ian Hendry, Honor Blackman, Diana Rigg and Linda Thorson).

Sometimes, this show, along with "The Flintstones", "Top Cat", "Wally Gator", "The Scooby-Doo Show" and some classic Disney and Looney Tunes shorts used to be broadcast in the UK with the correct pitch and speed which is of NTSC, as are "Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines", "Hong Kong Phooey", "Help!... It's The Hair Bear Bunch", "The New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show", "The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries", "The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh", "Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears" and classic Disney shorts on UK VHS releases from the late 1980s like "Disney's Cartoon Classics", "Mickey and the Gang", "Pluto's Tales" and "The Unsinkable Donald Duck".

I'd just thought i'd let you know anyway. --Michael (talk) 17:12, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
