Talk:HBO Max

From Hanna-Barbera Wiki

Hello there. I've created a HBO Max page and i have some thoughts.

Shows like Jonny Quest, Josie and the Pussycats, Josie and the Pussycats In Outer Space, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, The Scooby-Doo Show, Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo, The New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show (listed as Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Season 5), The Flintstones, The Jetsons, The Smurfs, Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry (some shorts), The Yogi Bear Show, What's New, Scooby-Doo?, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! and Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?, among others are on HBO Max, but i've noticed that Wacky Races (both the 1968 original and 2017 reboot) are also on the service as well. Are there any other Hanna-Barbera shows that are on HBO Max recently?

If anyone wants to know what other Hanna-Barbera shows might have recently been added to HBO Max, that would be very much appreciated.

Hope this helps and thanks in advance. --Michael (talk) 14:59, 11 June 2022 (UTC)

Correction: Wacky Races is only on HBO Max in other countries, such as Latin America. I saw that on Twitter. I live in the US and neither of the Wacky Races series are on our HBO Max. Other than that, no other Hanna-Barbera shows have been added yet. Urameshi (talk) 16:54, 11 June 2022 (UTC)

Okay then. Also, is the original Wacky Races on HBO Max in other countries been remastered and restored in HD or is it still using DVD prints? --Michael (talk) 17:40, 11 June 2022 (UTC)

I don't know. However, I found out a few hours ago that The Perils of Penelope Pitstop and Top Cat are also on HBO Max Latin America. Urameshi (talk) 21:08, 11 June 2022 (UTC)

HBO Max to be known as Max in 2023?

Hello there Snoopy,

According to this: https://www.cnbc.com/2022/12/05/warner-bros-discovery-max-streaming-service-name.html

What are your thoughts about it anyway? --Michael (talk) 20:13, 5 December 2022 (UTC)

I won't mind. -- Snoopy The Dog (talk) 20:21, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
What be will be. The page name can change, but I don't think I'll be going thru all the trouble of changing the category. -- Signed by James (talk) 20:26, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
I've changed more pages than the current 73 there currently is with HBO Max, but I'm not bothered to change it, honestly. It can be "Former Warner Bros. Investment Streaming Service" for all I care. -- Signed by James (talk) 20:28, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
Did I come off as mad? I may change it but I've also heard that HBO Max would be replaced not just renamed, although that may be outdated info. -- Signed by James (talk) 18:57, 4 January 2023 (UTC)
Anyone seen this: https://www.nexttv.com/news/warner-bros-discovery-may-not-combine-hbo-max-with-discovery-plus-after-all
Thoughts? --Michael (talk) 17:07, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
I think that's probably for the best. -- Snoopy The Dog (talk) 17:10, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
I agree. I also think that they probably could've added all of that content under the HBO Max name anyway. Just like Disney+ UK kept its name the same even though it now has the addition of the Star package. -- Signed by James (talk) 17:19, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
Yeah, also if anyone wants to watch the clip of how HBO Max will be renamed and how the new service could be marketed, see here: https://twitter.com/AnimationOnMax/status/1623021228876345344 --Michael (talk) 17:57, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

The Flintstones Seasons 4-6 removed from HBO Max

Has anybody on the Hanna-Barbera Wiki seen this?

Here it is: https://twitter.com/AnimationOnMax/status/1609765628214231041

And this as well: https://www.latestly.com/socially/entertainment/tv/hbo-max-removes-16-seasons-of-looney-tunes-cartoons-the-flintstones-also-truncated-leaves-long-time-fans-disappointed-4661569.html

What are HBO Max like anyway?

Are there any Hanna-Barbera shows as well as Looney Tunes also being removed from HBO Max?

What are your thoughts and reactions about this anyway? --Michael (talk) 15:16, 2 January 2023 (UTC)

I'm honestly quite sad that they had to go at this instant. Sure, HBO Max doesn't exist in Canada for all I care, but this is utterly ridiculous for those who enjoy this kind of content, especially viewers of all ages. With that being said, my only hope is to wish for the current CEO to step down from his job and have someone else undo these actions overtime, otherwise we might have more shows taken down from this platform (animated or otherwise).
As for the other shows staying here, I am highly uncertain after reading both links and too scared to answer. --QuestJ65 (talk) 19:30, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
Update: Also found this link stating that the removal of 50% of the Looney Tunes cartoons being a temporary change: https://twitter.com/CNschedules/status/1609977257975504896
Could the same be said with seasons 4-6 of The Flintstones? --QuestJ65 (talk) 19:36, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
Update #2: Turns out I was wrong, as disappointing as it sounds. Previously, the Looney Tunes and Flintstones content was licensed to HBO Max from Warner Bros. under an intra-company deal. And when those expired at the end of 2022, that is why there were removed. In short, they may not return to HBO Max because the company forgot to renew their license.
I don't have much to say about this, but all I can say that it stinks on ice. However, there are other options where they can be watched; the most obvious being DVDs and Blu-Rays. The entirety of The Flintstones can also be found om Boomerang and Tubi's streaming service (though only in the United States), and both it and Looney Tunes are airing on the MeTV cable channel.
With that being said, that news was a disappointment. But, I'm sure these options might be helpful for those who can get a hold of them. --QuestJ65 (talk) 20:29, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
Only the first two seasons are on Tubi. I think the availability of seasons has changed throughout the time it's been on Tubi, though. -- Signed by James (talk) 21:02, 5 January 2023 (UTC)

OFFICIAL: HBO Max to be relaunched as Max

It's official, HBO Max is to be relaunched as Max and the combined streaming service is also set to debut in May or June.

Here it is:

https://www.theverge.com/2023/4/11/23678849/warner-bros-discovery-max-combo-announcement-date

What are your thoughts about the combined streaming service be launched in May or June this year? --Michael (talk) 15:10, 12 April 2023 (UTC)

That sounds interesting. -- Snoopy The Dog (talk) 15:34, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
Okay. What about you James? --Michael (talk) 15:51, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
I'm okay with renaming the page and using HBO Max as a redirect. It's just the HBO Max category which will be a pain. I can imagine them renaming it something else in the next three years. -- Signed by James (talk) 16:21, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
Anyway, here's the press release about it as well: https://wbd.com/warner-bros-discovery-unveils-max-streaming-service-launching-may-23/ --Michael (talk) 05:35, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
Max replacing HBO Max makes more sense than a name change. That way nothing about HBO Max has to change on this site. It reminds me of when DisneyLife was discontinued in the UK when Disney+ came out, instead of the DisneyLife accounts being continued on Disney+. -- Signed by James (talk) 15:08, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
