Development

This episode, along with the second half, "The Curse of Half-Beard's Booty," was part of a trial experiment for further episodes to be made in this eleven-minute format, made before the true two-part regular-length series finale episodes, "Professor Huh? Part 1," and "Professor Huh? Part 6 3/4."[1]

Filming

It was copyrighted in 2017.

Music

The theme song, "Old Stomping Grounds," was written and performed by Adam Levin, James Bairian, and Louis Castle. The rest of the music was composed by Jake Monaco.

Release

Dates are in order of release:

  • United Kingdom and Ireland: November 13, 2017 on Boomerang
  • United States: March 18, 2018 on Boomerang

Behind the scenes

  • The Mystery Machine is absent.
  • Pizza O'Possum's is a parody of the restaurant chain Chuck E. Cheese, and Freddy Fazbear's Pizza from the 2014 video game Five Night at Freddy's, which itself is a parody of Chuck E. Cheese.
  • Having nothing to do with this episode (despite still being credited as a story editor), series co-creator, Jon Colton Barry, has publicly disowned this episode for mocking video game addiction, which is an officially recognized disorder, and the characters behave differently, such as Daphne coercing Velma back into her video game addiction.
  • A special thanks is given to Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, who had nothing to do with this episode, but did create the original series, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!

Errors

  • This episode contradicts "Protein Titans 2," in which Velma had no interest in video games, but to be fair to James Krenzke, one could retcon her actions in the latter due to her past video game addiction.
