"Happy Anniversary" is the second and final part of the first episode of Popeye and Son season one, and the second episode overall. It aired on September 19, 1987 on CBS. It was written by Jon Loy, directed by John Kimball and Paul Sommer, and voice directed by Gordon Hunt.

Olive thinks Popeye has forgotten their wedding anniversary after he fails to produce an anniversary gift on time. Popeye and Olive tell separate stories of how they got married to each other, and incidentally how Bluto ended up marrying Lizzie.

Behind the scenes

  • Even though Polly's mouth moves at the end, her own distinctive voice doesn't come through.

Errors

  • Popeye's parents aren't mentioned.
  • When Dee Dee says to Olive, "Oh, what a romantic story. Popeye must have really loved you," it comes out of Olive's mouth.
  • Despite Dee Dee helping bring Popeye and Olive back together, she is oddly absent when everyone's at Wimpy's.
