It was produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions for the Center for Strategic and International Studies of Georgetown University. It was written and directed by Gerard H. Baldwin, and produced by Ross M. Sutherland. The special depicts the Flintstones families living in a more "realistic" primitive setting than the audience has come to know them by.
