- The episode title is a play on "coup d'état."
- K.A.R.R. is a parody of KITT, the artificial intelligence which controlled the car in the Knight Rider TV series
- KARR was actually the name of the "evil" KITT.
- When the Professor takes his first ride, he resembles the main character Michael Knight.
- With the Professor wearing a new racing car outfit, Buttercup says he looks like he's dressed in a bad 80s TV show.
- The Professor has an inbuilt computer display with the internet in his new car which is displaying Obey (a parody of eBay) selling Zorlon again, just as it was in "Girls Gone Mild."
- The Professor has a poster of NASKR in his garage, which is a parody of NASCAR.
