Although this is the first time Batman and Robin are appearing in a full DC-themed series, they had previously appeared in The New Scooby-Doo Movies episodes "The Dynamic Scooby-Doo Affair" and "The Caped Crusader Caper".
Bill and Joe are named after William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, the founders of Hanna-Barbera.
