Shelly is a member of the Neptunes who plays the tambourine and stars in the Jabberjaw animated television series. She is voiced by Pat Parris.

Character description

A dark-haired teenager who plays tambourine and sings backup vocals for The Neptunes. She is attractive and intelligent, but haughty, vain and abrasive and considers herself to be the star of the band. Shelly is spoiled and abrasive. She always yells at her bandmates, insults them, treats them like dirt and thinks extremely highly of herself. She's especially mean to Jabberjaw, usually because he's kissing her or squishing her, due to his large size. However, While she holds a great deal of disdain for Jabberjaw (or "Blubberhead" as she calls him), she does have some grudging fondness for him deep down and occasionally shows it.

Biography

Harvey Birdman

Shelly and the Neptunes appeared in the episode "Shoyu Weenie", in which, after the Chan Clan discovers that Jabberjaw and the Neptunes have stolen their hit single and decide to take their case to a higher power. When he's not available, they settle for Harvey.

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated

Shelly and the Neptunes appeared in the episode "Mystery Solvers State Club Finals".

Throughout the episode, with the exception of Jabberjaw, the Neptunes appear in non-speaking roles.

The Neptunes are invited to compete in the annual Teen Mystery Solvers' Convention, a weekend affair where sleuthing teams from around the country compete to solve a mystery. However, the mystery turns out to be the disappearance of the teams themselves. Scooby alongside Jabberjaw, Speed Buggy and Captain Caveman rescue the Teen Mystery Solver's and save the day. In the end, it's revealed to be nothing more than a product of Scooby's dream.

Wacky Races (2017) cameo

Shelly and the Neptunes make cameos in the musical number "Eating Time", in the episode, "The Trial of Dick Dastardly". In this cameo, the Neptunes are seen in a re-used version of the original Jabberjaw intro.

SCOOB!

Shelly and the Neptunes appear on a poster in the Funland amusement park arcade.

Behind the scenes

• She has similarities with Alexandra Cabot from Josie and the Pussycats, although at least Shelly's actually part of her band.

In popular culture

• Shelly and the Neptunes appeared in a music video set to pain's "JabberJaw (Running Underwater)" in which they are portrayed as an underwater ska band, with all of them wearing modern clothing instead of jumpsuits. in the music video, Shelly dresses in a tank top and jeans and now plays bass guitar and assists on vocals.
• Shelly and the Neptunes appear in a Kimmel Cartoon segment of an 2017 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, in which the Neptunes are being dubbed over by an episode of the Bachelor.
