Scooby-Doo is the main character and protagonist of the Scooby-Doo franchise. He is a Great Dane, who can talk and has other anthropomorphic abilities, but remains the pet of Shaggy Rogers, and is the mascot of Mystery Incorporated, who are usually a gang of teenagers with a strong sense to solve mysteries.

Scooby-Doo first appeared in the Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! episode "What a Night for a Knight" in 1969, and 24 other episodes in the series. He has since gone onto to appear in countless spin-off TV series, specials, films, comics, and video games.

Throughout the years, both Hanna-Barbera, Cartoon Network, and Warner Bros. Animation have done several incarnations, which don't always fit whether because new writers have come on board and disregarded what has come before or there has been a reboot.
