"Returning of the Key Ring!" is the sixteenth episode of Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? season two, and the forty-second overall. It aired on October 1, 2021 on HBO Max. It was written by Benjamin Townsend, produced by series creator, Chris Bailey, and directed by Sean Bishop.

Mystery Inc. joins actor Sean Astin for a quest in returning a lost key ring to its owner, which leads them to a hardware store with a plant-like monster.

Behind the scenes

  • With every episode's title card, one of the gang announces the guest star, which is Daphne this time.
  • There are several references to Sean Astin's work on the Lord of the Rings films; Sean refers to himself and the gang as the Alliance of the Ring of Key, taken from the Fellowship of the Ring. The episode also ends with a reference to The Goonies, another popular film Sean starred in.
