Behind the scenes
- Gargamel's first comic appearance was in a Smurfs story titled "Le Voleur de schtroumpf" (or "The Smurfnapper" in English), created by Peyo and published by Dupuis in 1959.
- Gargamel's voice and mannerisms are very similar to Dick Dastardly, another character voiced by Winchell.
